Founded by Genghis Shakhan, a proud combat veteran and former U.S. Marine Corps Reserve infantryman (0311), The Original Man Emergency Preparedness Store was built on a mission of service, resilience, and protection. Having served his country, like his maternal and paternal grandfathers, Genghis served in Operation Iraqi Freedom and trained extensively in both urban and rural off-grid environments in California, Ohio, South Carolina and abroad. Genghis has experienced firsthand how preparation saves lives when every second counts.

Driven by a passion to protect families — especially those in underserved and Black American communities — Genghis created The Original Man to help people prepare for blackouts, brownouts, natural disasters, and any unforeseen crisis.
